Football Match – FCMS vs Al-Riyadh University

Introduction:

To encourage inter-university engagement, athletic excellence, and teamwork, a friendly football match was held between Fakeeh College for Medical Sciences (FCMS) and Al-Riyadh University on Thursday, 8th May 2025. The event took place at Al-Riyadh University Football Ground and served as a platform for students to showcase their sportsmanship, build leadership skills, and strengthen ties between institutions. This match was a valuable experience for participants and attendees, both competitively and socially.

Goals and Objectives:

·      Promote physical health and athletic performance

·      Enhance teamwork, communication, and leadership among students

·      Foster inter-university collaboration and healthy competition

·      Provide students with real-time experience in sports event planning and participation

Description of learning outcomes achieved through the activity:

·      Improved Physical Fitness and Football Skills – through active participation in the match

·      Development of Leadership and Organizational Abilities – by assisting in planning and volunteering

Brief description of the activity:

The football match brought together FCMS student athletes and the Al-Riyadh University team for a spirited face-off that celebrated sportsmanship, skill, and unity. The game was conducted under the supervision of 2 professional judges and supported by 1 athletic trainer to ensure fair play and safety. A total of 4 staff organizers and 12 student volunteers from FCMS contributed to the smooth coordination of logistics, crowd management, and hospitality.

A crowd of approximately 50 spectators, including 15 guests from FCMS, witnessed the event, cheering on their teams and adding to the excitement.

At the end of the match, the winners were announced, and symbolic medals and prizes were awarded to acknowledge outstanding performance and team effort. The event not only highlighted athletic capabilities but also reflected the power of teamwork, preparation, and student initiative.

Staff participation in the activity:

4 organizers from FCMS, coordinating with Al-Riyadh University counterparts

1 trainer for player support and safety

2 judges for fair gameplay oversight

-           Players: FCMS football team members

-           Volunteers: 12 students assisting with organization, coordination, and hospitality

-           Audience: 15 FCMS student attendees
