The International Translation Day

International Translation Day is meant as an opportunity to pay tribute to the work of language professionals, which plays an important role in bringing nations together, facilitating dialogue, understanding, and cooperation, contributing to development, and strengthening world peace and security. 

Thus, FCMS on 9th of October celebrates this day with students and staff to increase awareness of translation in our lives and in particular in the medical field. 

Goals and Objectives

  • To activate the interconnection between different languages through translation.  
  • To create awareness among students of the importance of learning a new language. 
  • To create awareness amongst staff and students in Fakeeh College on International Translation Day, which is celebrated worldwide on September 30th. 
  • To engage students in translation activities in order to enhance the spirit of competition. 
  • To enhance interprofessional collaboration between students in different programs at FCMS 

Description of learning outcomes achieved through the activity

  • Differentiate between the different types of translation.  
  • Identify the role of translation in medical organizations.  
  • Participate in translation competitions in English, Japanese, and Spanish.

Targeted Audience:  All students from all departments 

Brief description of the activity

The celebration of the International English Day included a short presentation about medical translation and its role in the hospital along with some competitions and games among students from all departments.

Conclusion

Students from MBBS, PharmD, and nursing programs prepared a translation competition using Kahoot software.
