Safari Day – Female Edition

Introduction:

In line with Fakeeh College for Medical Sciences’ (FCMS) commitment to promoting wellness, camaraderie, and cultural engagement outside the academic setting, the Extracurricular Activity Unit organized Safari Day exclusively for female students. The event aimed to create a joyful and memorable outdoor experience through organized recreation in a safe and scenic environment. It offered a break from academic stress while nurturing social bonding, mental relaxation, and an appreciation for nature and traditional outdoor activities.

Goals and Objectives:

·      Promote mental wellness through outdoor recreational activities.

·      Strengthen peer relationships and encourage teamwork.

·      Foster a spirit of community and shared cultural enjoyment.

·      Encourage physical activity and active participation in student life.

·      Provide an opportunity for students to explore traditional and nature-based settings.

Description of learning outcomes achieved through the activity:

·       Stress Relief and Wellness: Participants experienced a positive impact on mental health and stress reduction through a change of environment.

·      Social Cohesion: Students engaged with peers from different programs, strengthening interpersonal communication and group participation.

·      Cultural and Recreational Exposure: Students explored themed safari-style activities, which promoted cultural enjoyment and group interaction.

·      Confidence Building: Through interactive group games and activities, students stepped out of their comfort zones, enhancing their self-confidence and adaptability.

Brief description of the activity:

Safari Day for female students was a full-day outdoor recreational trip featuring a variety of fun and engaging activities in a traditional, nature-inspired setting. Organized and supervised by the ECA Unit, the event included team games, music, dancing, shared meals, and relaxation under the open sky. Students wore themed outfits and participated in various cultural and entertainment segments. Transportation, safety, and meals were arranged to ensure a seamless experience. The event succeeded in promoting a sense of belonging, joy, and positive energy among attendees.

Participants’ Feedback:

Feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Students appreciated the break from academic routine and expressed a desire for similar outdoor events in the future. They highlighted the fun, bonding, and stress relief the event provided.

Conclusion:

Safari Day was a vibrant and successful activity that enriched students’ college experience beyond academics. The combination of relaxation, fun, and social connection contributed meaningfully to the students' well-being and overall satisfaction. The event will be considered for inclusion in the upcoming academic calendar as a recurring activity.
