Quran & Hadith Competition

Introduction:

The Holy Quran competition reminds us of the profound importance of the Quran in our lives. It is a source of guidance, comfort, and inspiration, and has been the foundation of our faith and practice for centuries. The Quran has been the primary source of spiritual guidance for Muslims worldwide, and its recitation has been an integral part of our daily lives.

Goals and Objectives:

•               To improve their recitation skills: To accurately recite the Quran with correct pronunciation, intonation, and tajweed (rules of recitation).

•               To develop memorization skills: To memorize the Quranic verses and surahs (chapters) for the competition.

•               To build confidence and self-esteem: To feel more confident and self-assured when reciting the Quran in front of others.

•               To develop their public speaking skills: To learn to present themselves confidently and clearly in front of an audience.

•               To foster a sense of community and teamwork: To work together with fellow students to support each other and learn from each other's strengths and weaknesses.

Description of learning outcomes achieved through the activity:

•               Cultivate a sense of reverence and respect for the Quran and its recitation.

•               Develop their ability to convey the message and meaning of the Quran through recitation.

•               Improve their ability to engage and inspire an audience through their recitation.

•               Practice critical thinking in analyzing and interpreting Quranic verses.

•               Improve their ability to think critically about the context and meaning of Quranic verses.

Targeted Audience:

All Students that have memorized the Quran

Brief description of the activity:

•               The Surrah (Al-Talak) was chosen by the members responsible for follow up with students.

•               The competition was announced on a flyer in all student groups.

•               The deadline for recitation was June 8th

•               The students were divided into three groups each group recited the surah to the assigned judge

•               Judges used the rubric to decide on the winners

•               Winners were announced and rewarded with cash prizes

•               All participants received cash prizes and certificates in the award ceremony.
