Mental health plays a vital role in academic performance, personal growth, and overall well-being. In response to growing student needs and in alignment with Fakeeh College for Medical Sciences’ (FCMS) commitment to holistic development, the Student Activity Affairs Unit organized Mental Health Awareness Day. The activity was conducted by the college social worker, Ms. Safaa Shaban, and aimed to create a safe, supportive space where students could learn about mental well-being, especially during periods of academic stress. The event combined an informative talk, interactive engagement, and personal reflection, fostering a culture of openness around mental health.
Through the talk and discussions led by Ms. Safaa Shaban, students gained insight into common psychological stressors, especially those related to exams and academic life. They were introduced to practical coping mechanisms, including time management, positive thinking, and self-care routines. The activity also encouraged emotional expression and peer connection through open discussion, which helped normalize mental health conversations. Students became more aware of available support systems and were empowered to recognize signs of emotional distress in themselves and others..
