Healthy Lifestyle Day

A healthy lifestyle is a cornerstone of disease prevention, academic performance, and long-term well-being. In alignment with Fakeeh College for Medical Sciences' (FCMS) mission to promote health awareness and proactive wellness, the Student Activity Affairs Unit organized "Healthy Lifestyle Day" under the supervision of Dr. Maryam Almass and participation from Year 4 MBBS students. This awareness campaign aimed to educate fellow students on practical habits for maintaining a healthy lifestyle through interactive displays, informational materials, and healthy snack distribution.

Goals and Objectives

  • Raise awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle among college students.
  • Promote healthy eating habits and the benefits of physical activity.
  • Provide evidence-based information about sleep hygiene, hydration, stress management, and screen time control.
  • Encourage students to adopt small, sustainable health-related changes in their daily routines.
  • Foster a culture of wellness and peer-led health education at FCMS.

Description of learning outcomes achieved through the activity

Students who participated in organizing and attending the event developed a clearer understanding of the components of a healthy lifestyle and how they contribute to disease prevention and academic success. The MBBS students involved in the campaign strengthened their skills in health communication, leadership, and teamwork. Attendees engaged in informative conversations about balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, mental well-being, and healthy routines. The activity also encouraged peer interaction and empowered students to become ambassadors of healthy living within their college community.

Brief description of the activity

Healthy Lifestyle Day was held as an on-campus awareness campaign targeting students across all programs. Led by Year 4 MBBS students under the guidance of Dr. Maryam Almass, the event featured educational booths, distribution of healthy snacks, and posters promoting essential elements of a healthy lifestyle such as proper nutrition, physical activity, mental well-being, and sleep hygiene. The campaign created an engaging, supportive atmosphere where students could reflect on their habits and receive practical wellness tips.

Conclusion

Healthy Lifestyle Day was a highly engaging and impactful initiative that successfully promoted wellness awareness among FCMS students. It not only reinforced key concepts of preventive health and daily self-care, but also empowered first-year medical students to take active roles in health education. The strong attendance and positive feedback underscore the importance of integrating lifestyle promotion into the academic environment. This event aligns with the college’s goals of holistic student development and will serve as a foundation for future health campaigns.
