3rd FCMS Scientific Research Workshop for Staff ( January, 2025 )

Research is a crucial educational tool in all academic institutions and educational settings. It helps to addresses global problems and fostering innovation. It contributes to the development and success of high education institutions adding to the knowledge, skills and practices of the academic staff and students.

Based on Saudi vision 2023 that encourage production of high-quality research and according to Fakeeh College for Medical Sciences (FCMS) mission and vision, FCMS is keen to empower its academic staff with research knowledge and skills necessary for their progress. In addition, enhancing research environment and its infrastructure is part of FCMS mission and one of its strategic goals and Consequently, FCMS integrates Scientific Research Workshops in its annual calendar targeting faculty staff believing in the importance of research in medical sciences.

Objectives

• Recognize key concepts of Innovation and intellectual property.
• Identify different types of intellectual Properties.
• Recognize the importance of intellectual property in academia.
• Describe strategic usage of IP in academia.
• Identify patents database search engines.
• Apply to Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP).
• Recognize different national and international research grants.
• Illustrate essential components of proposals submitted for research grant.
• Reproduce grant submission to the Research, Development and Innovation Authority (RDIA).

Learning outcomes of the workshop:

By the end of the workshop, attendees will be able to:

• Describe innovation and intellectual property.
• Develop proposals for granting
• Submit proposals for research grant.
