The FCMS Scientific Research Workshop is designed to strengthen participants’ research competencies and enhance their understanding of biostatistics, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses. Over two days, the workshop brings together experienced faculty to guide participants through key concepts of data management, statistical analysis, and evidence synthesis. Through interactive sessions, attendees will gain practical knowledge and skills essential for conducting high-quality scientific research and publishing their findings effectively.
· Objectives
· Describe the fundamentals of research data management, including identifying types of variables and applying appropriate data coding techniques.
· Apply key biostatistical concepts such as descriptive, bivariate, and multivariate analyses to interpret research data effectively.
· Utilize statistical software (SPSS) for data entry, analysis, and interpretation of results.
· Comprehend the principles of systematic reviews and meta-analyses, including developing research questions and search strategies.
· Select and extract relevant data systematically from research studies for evidence synthesis.
· Analyze and interpret meta-analysis results to draw valid and evidence-based conclusions.
· Recognize the steps involved in the publication process and prepare research findings for dissemination in peer-reviewed journals.
