Goals of the Bachelor of Nursing Science (BSN) Program
Baccalaureate education in nursing is based upon study of sciences and humanities that provide a foundation for continuing personal, professional and educational development. The curriculum reflects the Saudi societal needs for nursing services, contemporary changes in the roles of nurses in the health care systems and emphasizes essential concepts in the preparation of the general nurse.
The curriculum is designed to give the students the opportunity to become a competent and self directed generalist who is able to critically think and function in a variety of settings. Baccalaureate program in nursing consists of one semester of pre-nursing coursework and seven semesters of nursing and other related course work. In addition to the four academic years, one year of consolidated clinical practice in professional nursing (Internship) is required.
Objective of the BSNProgram
Upon completion of the baccalaureate nursing program, the graduate should be able to:

Use theoretical knowledge from the sciences, humanities and nursing as a base for critical thinking, problem solving and decision making.

Apply the nursing process to provide safe, competent and therapeutic nursing care to a variety of population utilizing appropriate technology.

Incorporate research through critique and evaluation of findings to enhance professional nursing practice.

Accept responsibility for the promotion of change in health care in response to societal, cultural, political and economic factors.

Demonstrate knowledge and application of various communication and information systems which promote collaboration, critical thinking and ethical reasoning.

Collaborate with individuals, families and groups through the teaching learning process to promote optimal health.

Demonstrate knowledge and application of management principals in promoting and directing nursing care and in own nursing practices.

Demonstrate ethical, legal and social accountability for professional behaviour.

Accept responsibility for lifelong professional and personal growth.

The college follows the semester’s system.

The time needed to award the bachelor degree is:

High school graduates science four academic years equal to eight semesters in addition to the internship year.

BSc graduates science (Chemistry - Biochemistry – Biology), nursing diploma graduates and high school graduates with two to three years of study in health institutions and colleges will have two and a half academic year equal to five semesters in addition to the internship year.

Complete (134) credit hours for the high school graduates, not less than sixty credit hours for both the bachelor of science (BSc) graduates and the nursing diploma graduates from health institutions and health colleges graduate.

The Language of study is English.

Applicants must score 80 % in high school of Saudi students to be with the frame of Saudization, and 80% of non- Saudi students and at least good for the BSc students and the nursing diploma graduate.

The BSN degree requires successful completion of 134 credit hours, in addition to one year of consolidated clinical training (Internship).

The BSN degree programs balance the Behavioural Social Sciences & Humanities Studies, Health Related Sciences and Nursing Courses. These Courses provide strong foundation for preparation of a graduate nurse to practice as professional nurses in a variety of health care settings.

Secondary school graduates scientific section (Male/Female)
Application must satisfy the following criteria:
- A graduate percentage of 80% for Saudi students and 80% for non Saudi.
- Good conduct and behavior.
- Saudi candidates should have family identification card or a personal identification as for non Saudi should have a valid (Iqama).
- Candidates should not score less than 60% in ability and achievement test, the weighted rate of the secondary school average and the ability and achievement average should not be less that 70%.
- Candidates should not exceed more than three years since their actual graduation date.
- Candidate’s age should not exceed 25 years old.
- Full time study.
- Candidates must pass the personal interview.
- Candidates must pass the medical check up.
- The students are not obliged to work in Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital after the internship year.
